Government funding for social programs, like those we offer at Wayne’s Cup, are coming under increasing financial pressure, not least because of the increased expenditure required to support those in need, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Based on current data, most students are only awarded around $5,000 a year by the government, enough to allow them to attend Wayne’s Cup for two half days a week for a year. However, our students need so much more than that, if the developmental goals set by our programs are to be realised.
In short, we rely on the generosity of local businesses and other organisations to offer extra funding, for example by sponsoring a student for say an additional day a week for a year.
We know this is a lot to ask, especially at this difficult time, but if you could see how our students develop and benefit from the programs we offer, you would realise how important our work is.
